Media Release

Thursday, 25 May 2023

Griefline announces the resignation of Sarah Godfrey from the position as Griefline President and Board Chair.

Fellow Co-Chair Nicky Mackie will step into the role as Griefline President and Board Chair effective immediately.

“Sarah entered this role with a clear vision to create a more efficient, stable and sustainable national not-for-profit,” Nicky Mackie said.

“In her four years at the helm, Sarah steered the organisation through the turbulence of a global pandemic, rapid national expansion and funding challenges.”

“It is testament to Sarah’s leadership and tenacity that Griefline is still in operation and able to deliver its free grief support programs to a national audience.”

“I will personally miss working alongside Sarah and thank her for her invaluable contribution and passion in creating a sustainable future for Griefline.”

As the longest-standing board member of Griefline, Nicky is excited to take on the Chair role and looks forward to leading Griefline’s continued growth and cementing its position in the Australian digital mental health landscape as the leading providers of free, early-intervention support and resources for people experiencing grief.

“Griefline is an organisation I am proud to be associated with, and I am looking forward to the continued growth of our education and partnership programs with health care workers, businesses, government, and other NFPs to support the normalisation of grief in our community.”

“I am proud to be leading an extraordinary team and feel honoured to be in the company of such committed, passionate and professional board members and a leadership team who are committed to supporting the emotional and mental wellbeing of others,” she said.

The Board thanks Sarah for her service to the organisation and the community we support. Sarah will continue to volunteer for Griefline as a media spokesperson and government liaison.
