I extend my deepest condolences for your loss. Losing a parent is one of life’s most difficult experiences, especially when it happens unexpectedly. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed and to struggle with coming to terms with the events. Grief is a complex and personal journey, and there is no set way to feel or cope.

It’s also normal to have regrets and wish that you had spent more time with your mother. Blaming ourselves or wishing we had done something different is a natural response. However, it’s important to remind ourselves that we did the best we could, given the circumstances, and that we were potentially tired or stressed. Therefore, it’s crucial to balance these thoughts and remember the positive moments of love and support that were shared.

Taking a month off work and experiencing depression are normal reactions to such a traumatic event. It’s vital that you take the time you need to grieve and process your loss. If you’re finding it challenging to cope, seeking support from a therapist or counsellor may be beneficial.

Please know that you are not alone in your grief and that many people understand what you’re going through. I offer my sincerest sympathy, and I hope you find some comfort and healing in the days ahead.
