Social connection is good for our health and wellbeing
Humans are social creatures, we thrive when connected to others. However, one in four Australian adults report feeling lonely*. Research also shows that extended periods of loneliness and social isolation can cause a decline in your mental and physical health, reducing your overall quality of life.
That’s where we come in. Griefline cares about creating connections, we do it everyday through our national helpline and online peer support community.
Feelings of loneliness are personal and therefore everyone’s experience will be different.
It could be that you’ve lost a life partner, lack meaningful relationships or are isolated due to living or working in a remote location.
Even in a crowded room, you might feel completely alone, emotionally and socially excluded.
Griefline’s free Care-to-Call service provides a compassionate person who will reach out to you once a week for a friendly check-in call.
When we call you, our specially trained support volunteers will discuss ways you can start a conversation and connect with your community, or just be a familiar and friendly mate who you can talk to, without shame or fear of judgement.
