Salomie Joseph - Griefline Training Coordinator and Grief Education Facilitator

Salomie Joseph

Training coordinator

What inspired you to start working at Griefline?

I started volunteering with Griefline in 2022 while a counselling student. Drawn here through my own lived experiences of loss, I found my calling in holding space for people on their grief journeys. On completion of my studies, I joined the team as a Training Coordinator in 2023.

What are your qualifications and career highlights?

After undertaking roles in public relations and human resources, I focused on being a stay-at-home mum to my children. I am thrilled I can now combine my background in communications with my more recent qualifications in counselling and grief education, bringing all those skills to my current role.

What are you passionate about in the grief and loss education space?

Guided by the principles of person-centered, and acceptance and commitment therapies, I am passionate about supporting people both as individuals, and as members of families, communities, and organisations. Griefline’s mission of ‘normalising grief through courageous conversations’ resonates with me professionally and personally. I strongly believe in busting myths and biases around grief, thereby furthering grief literacy.

When you are not working and educating, where will we find you?

Most often, spending time with my family, battling it out over board games. I am a creative soul! I also believe in the healing power of being in nature’s beauty, and love doing an assortment of mindful crafting activities for self-care, including crochet, modern calligraphy and painting.
