I have recently joined this forum. I lost my father just under a year ago and I am still struggling. He was my best friend, my confidant and my guide. I never anticipated that he would pass so suddenly. It’s now nearly been a year and there are times where I fill my day to get by, or naturally fill it knowing I must go on. But deep down I miss him so much, I think of him as so many moments pass during the day. I still don’t understand why, I know so many people, all people have their own set of problems in life but how does one move forward. I miss him more than I can put into words. I feel he was taken too suddenly and I wasn’t ready to lose my father. I’ve changed the way I approach life so much, done all the “right things” because I do want to do them, I’m meditating now, exercising, taking care of myself more, but deep down why do I feel that there will always be this deep sadness.

Thank you for that, what you said really resonates with how I am feeling. I will try to take that onboard and consider moving forward.

Hello@rosemary! I can hear how much you loved your father and how very sad you are. At the same time you have managed to make some big and positive changes to how you are approaching your life. Some people talk about how we grow around grief and it sounds like that is what is happening for you. I encourage you to keep doing what you are doing in terms of getting on with what you can do with your life and at the same time allowing yourself to experience the grief when it emerges. I wonder what your dad would say to you about this hard time? I encourage you to keep reaching out as you have dome in this forum. If you want you can also call the Helpline on 1300 845 745 9am to 5pm Mon to Fri and 12 to 6pm Sat and Sun.
