Introducing Bryan Petheram

Bryan Petheram
Grief Educator, Men and Grief Specialist, Facilitator
Bryan began volunteering with Griefline in early 2021, initially supporting the Helpline and Policeline programs before joining the counselling team in 2022. He has since contributed to the Policeline and Integrating Grief Programs and facilitated a range of support groups.
Â
Now serving as a guest speaker and ongoing grief educator, Bryan brings a particular focus on men and grief, exploring the distinct ways men experience and express loss. He approaches grief work through a person-centred lens, honouring each individual’s story and placing their unique experience at the heart of the healing process.
Â
Bryan’s academic research is currently centred on the stories we tell about grief — specifically, how narratives around loss shape the way men respond to their experiences of bereavement.
Bryan currently works as a Lecturer and Student Placement Coordinator – Counselling at Deakin University, supporting students as they develop their professional identities and secure meaningful placement opportunities.
Â
Outside of work, Bryan enjoys spending time outdoors with his two large dogs and connecting with family.
