Hi all,
Today I thought I should just have a look at the cats and kittens in my area up for adoption on websites.
I never truly did this with a purpose to actually apply. But apart of me wanted to look.
I saw some truly wonderful cats in need of a home and love and attention. I even saw some that would meet my criteria for my home and my dogs. I even eerily saw some that were ringers/almost identical to my beloved cat.
But when I pictured them on the bed beside me,all I could see were strangers.
Now I know that I am truly not ready. People keep telling me a new friend might help me heal. The depression, the trauma and the grief.
I haven’t processed my grief fully and come to terms understanding it. And I understand now, that if I did adopt one of these wonderful feline friends,it wouldn’t be fair on them.
I just thought I could share that with others. If you or if I am not ready, then we should stay unchanged.
I don’t feel guilty for looking at those websites, I just know there is only one face I am truly looking for.
And knowing my limits on my grief has made me a little stronger today.
Thank you for listening.

In a previous post you have expressed that you journal to help with your feelings. I wonder if you have thought about adding some mindfulness techniques. I’ve attached a good article that you might find helpful.August 25, 2024 at 1:29 pm #33295vmrose33ParticipantHi abc01
Thanks for sharing this experience with us. I can hear that this was a big step for you and you put a lot of thought into considering the possibilities but know that it is not right for you at this time.
