Call out for GriefLine Volunteers
Wednesday 12 April from 6:30 to 8:30pm
Level 1, 479 Warrigal Road, Moorabbin
Australia’s only dedicated loss and grief helpline service is calling out for new volunteers to enrol in their 2017 Loss & Grief course.
An Orientation Workshop will be held at GriefLine for those interested in becoming GriefLine volunteers.
As part of the registration process, Kathy Wells, Manager Helpline & Bereavement Counsellor asks potential volunteers to talk with her about what is involved.
She said: “We are totally dependent on our volunteers for our telephone service, and it’s always useful to talk before coming to an orientation session”.
GriefLine offers caring and compassion in times of sadness and distress for the cost of a local call.
“We owe both our volunteers and the community the very best we can offer. We consider the recruiting, interviewing, selection and supervision of each participant to be of great importance,” Ms Wells added.
“Our commitment to volunteers is to provide a 24-hour supervision service for referrals, difficult calls, and personal care,” said Kathy Wells.
GriefLine callers come from all walks of life. They are people who are experiencing grief as a consequence of significant loss in their lives, e.g death, broken relationship, people who may be inadequately supported within our communities, health concerns and its implications for the person and their family, pet bereavement or unemployment, etc.
If you are interested in attending the Orientation Workshop please call Kathy Wells on 03 9935 7444.
