Online Counselling

As everyone deals with grief, loss and/or trauma differently, we checked in with our callers and asked them what would be helpful and useful for them in working with their experience of grief, loss and/or trauma.

The feedback from callers was that in addition to ‘one-off’ telephone counselling and support, our callers would find SMS counselling very helpful for the six-eight session program, in addition to video counselling for the six to eight session programs. Some people may prefer the combination of SMS counselling, telephone and video counselling or may prefer to use just one modality, which is absolutely fine: GriefLine’s commitment is to ensure that we are meeting your needs, in whatever that looks like and providing you with skilled and trained volunteer counsellors to work with you with what you are experiencing.

As a result of our conversations with our callers, we also now have a SMS counselling and support service to work with anyone experiencing grief, loss and trauma for six-eight sessions and also provide a video counselling service for people, who are also wanting to work with their grief, loss and trauma for six-eight sessions programs.

The extended program focuses on creating a safe and trusting space where you are able to speak openly about your experience of grief, loss and/or trauma. Over the sessions, we also focus on your strengths, capacities and skills in working with your grief, loss and/or trauma.

In addition to the above services, GriefLine also offers online clinically (supported by a senior and experienced clinician) moderated forums to anyone, who is experiencing grief, loss and/or trauma, Australia wide, for anyone to link in with other people, who are also experiencing grief, loss and trauma.

In addition to this, GriefLine also runs a clinically moderated forum for people who are supporting a person, who is experiencing grief, loss and/or trauma. This also provides the opportunity for people to speak online with others, who are also supporting someone, who is experiencing grief, loss and/or trauma.

The aim of both these programs is to give people the opportunity to speak with others, who may have similar experiences and the opportunity to decrease the sense of isolation for people experiencing grief, loss and/or trauma or supporting someone, who is experiencing this.

Further to this, we also provide self-help tools available via our website, to assist people experiencing grief, loss and trauma and also for people supporting people with grief, loss and/or trauma.
In addition to this, there are videos available online, both from people speaking about their lived experience with grief, loss and/or trauma and from professionals, speaking about different aspects of grief, loss and/or trauma.
