We may hear news that changes our lives:

Your child has been killed in an accident,”
You have cancer”,
We have to retrench you.”

Alternatively, we may have developed a gambling addiction or we may have felt depressed for some time. At such times we have a basic need for kindness and caring.

In distressing circumstances, sometimes we initially receive support of family and friends, while other times our loved ones do not know how to cope with our predicament and/or our level of emotion.

GriefLine, an anonymous telephone counselling service and online counselling service, provides support to people who are suffering. Accepting the reality of the loss of someone or something we value can be challenging and may mean we have to amend our expectations of the future. Our emotions may be so intense that we feel as vulnerable as a nine-year old child.

Most people find the best way to deal with their feelings is to share them with someone they trust. GriefLine, provides free, confidential telephone counselling services to anyone in the community who may need support in order to express their feelings and experiences.

Anyone with personal problems can call GriefLine on (03) 9596 7799 between 12.00 noon and 3.00 a.m. seven days a week (including public holidays).
